4 8" subs

I am running two poineer 12" subs currently on loan. I used to have an 8" in a tube that hit a lot harder and louder. It was made by some no name company named bumber, but the question is, do 8's hit harder, or are the pioneer 12's just crap? I was thinking of eithor 2 12" or 4 8" off the RF 800a2....lemme know what u guys think, thanx

no 8" sub on the planet will out-pound ANY 12" Pioneer subs. I would question the quality of your box, your amp, or your install. I might be able to be more help if you can provide more info like your box for each setup, amp, wiring, etc.

actually, the 12's are in a bad box, it is, in my lowly openion, very poorly made. I would assume this would greatly attribute to the lack of sound quality. What I was wanting to know really was, will 4 8's out do 2 12's..... thanx

Probably not. The 8s tend not to have strong low octave performance because their cone size and mass are just too small. I've seen systems with dozens of 8s that are real loud, but they still don't sound good in my opinion. I'd much rather have 10s or 12s.

Why not four eights, and two twelves, or one fifteen? Eights do hit hard but, they don't have the loud deep bass.

Mixing different subs (and different sizes) opens up a can of worms that you just don't want to deal with. It sounds like *** , and your output is basically limited to the weakest driver (the 8").
