Rear speakers Height
Rear speakers Height
I see many 6x9 have raised tweeters (and mid-range) speaker assemblies extending past the face of the 6x9 housing. Probably best design-wise to get the tweeters up away from the 6x9 cone.
How well do those raised types fit beneath our sail panels?
I actually went with inexpensive Rockford Fosgate R169X2 the other day because:
1. The tweeter did not extend above the housing, and
2. It's what my audio dealer had in stock without raised tweeter.
They are OK, but also inexpensive enough to be replaced once I learn what will/will not fit on the stock mounting plate (and behind the sail panel).
Perhaps I need to dump the stock mounting plate if I want anything taller?
Also, any issues with front speaker heights? Still have not made that purchase.
Thanks,
Rich

Re: Rear speakers Height
So helpful Dyno!
Found a solution at Thirdgen Ranch. They make low-cost sailpanels that could be modified for taller speakers mounted in the factory plate. No need to cut the factory originals.
Only need to pursue if the basic Rockford speakers do not hold up. They sound good enough to remain in the car. Tunes are secondary. Driving a manual thirdgen is more than adequate, and really the point of having it.

Well, it wasn't meant to be helpful in and of itself. It was meant to bring the thread back to the top where someone who might have an answer (I don't) could see it.
Glad you found a solution that will work for you.
