which wire?

im hooking up a factory tape player into my '85 and i need to know which wire makes the face of the radio light up when i turn on the headlights. Ive tried several different combos and nothing seems to work. is something fried?

From: Maple Shade, NJ

from what side, what wire from the wire harness, or what wire from the factory radio. If its factory, shouldnt it plug in, or did someone remove the plugs.

If I remember correctly the color of the wire is brown.

thnx for you help! actually, its a factory radio out of a '95 Grand Prix (my old one wont play tapes).
