hehe, im plannin on doin 2 12" eclipse aluminum subs. now im kinda havin second thoughts. maybe i want 4 10s. thinking about it, i loved the sound quality i got out of my cerwin 10. it was very acurate. now i know 4 10s will go louder than the 12s because of the whole more cone area yadda yadda, but if i have to do any strange boxes (pryimad etc...) than screw it.
my question is will the 2 12 make me cry like a little girl when they hit? thats what im goin for. oh and im runnin 600watts RMS through each 12, and i would probably use 300 each for the 10s. (makes amp buying easier.)

600 watts to each 12? The sub may withstand that much power without damage, but that doesn't mean it's going to make useful output.
Anyway, back to the task at hand. Have you thought about 3 10s? They'll fit with less work. 4 10s will fit too, but it will be a bit more work.

yea i thought about 3 10s, and i was thinking that if it was gonna cost more, (3 10" eclipse are more than 2 12") i might as well go ahead and go for over kill (and get 4). and amping 3 10s would be more of a chore, because i couldnt use the the 2 600x1 PPI amps i want. im sure i could figgure out something, but what i was thinking is im gonna have the 2 amps either way. i could use em on 2 or 4 speakers.
but thinking about it realisticly 3 10s would be fine. and i just meant that i could run 600 to em not that i would, or i would quickly loose one of my most precious senses.
i would probably need 1 amp per sub if i did 3 10s. hmmm. ill have to look at my options. and unless a great deal on amps pops up i think im gonna stick with 2 12" aluminums. man i want that titanium. too bad its a frikin major power hog.

ah screw it i had a big ol message about how the 12" titanuim with more powerful amp (1400x1) would only cost me $1800 (as opposed to $1600), but i dont care now. i think im gonna go with the 2 12" aluminums, but i would like to know what other people think about 3 or 4 10" aluminums. and if there are any good deals on PPI amps.

DAMN IT JIM! hehe
cheasy, i know, but eh... so what do you think of my logic behind 4 10s? being able to still use the same amps.
and how bout that 1400x1 @ 4OHM? could i wire that into 2 12" DVCs and keep it at 4ohm so i can run 700 to each? i would need 2 12" 8ohm dvcs wouldnt i?

3 10s vs 4 10s is just a matter of how much money you want to spend and how loud you want it. It'll also depend on what impedance subs you're using and what impedance the amp can tolerate.

i figgured you would say that, so im just gonna stick with 2 12s. cheaper and i think it will be loud enough. on a diffrent note my friend has 98 muffstain. opps mustang. he has 2 10" JBL subs powered by a 500watt amp. i know this is vague but its all i know. he hit 140s. my other friend said he has been in the car when its loud and he said my vette with one 10" cerwin powerd by a 150watt jensen was louder. now im thinkin that the guy with the muffstain didnt turn it up all the way for my other friend, but do you think i could do 140s with one 10 in a 79 vette? its got rear glass similar to 3rdgens, and only has 6 cubic ft of space for a simple sub box. that and its directly behind you.
