ROCKFORD FOSGATE! WHY!!??!!
did any of u see the new rockford subs and amps? i think they are drop dead UGLY!! When i opened my crutchfield catalog to the rockford subs page, it brought me to my knees! then the rockford amp page just made me close the catalog and throw it in the garbage
i liked the oldschool look of the old punch dvc's and amps. it was hard enough for me to like the look of the HE2s and the HX2s. has anyone heard what these new subs sound like? i think they are the same subs with an ugly look.
any help is appreciatted!

imo, rockford corp has gone downhill these past few years. i was really into them when i first got my license, thats when they just came out with the fanatic q series seperates and the amps with gold endcaps. i liked them cuz they were rated at some very low watts but could slam anything u had around. i think ever since 98 their products have dropped in quality. another reason i have fallon out of love with them is that they now sell to chain stores like best buy and the like. instead of keeping it local with the nieghborhood stereo shops.

yea, I saw that too. I didn't think the subs looked that bad, but the amp looked like they gained a few pounds. They are all bloated.

All the more reason to buy better equipment 8^) Just my personal preferance, but I would not use another Fosgate product for anything! I have had terrible luck with that brand... Pheonix Gold has my vote.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't buy an amp jsut cuz it's pretty. I don't even see my amps unless I am adjusting them since I have the amps in an enclosed amp rack.
All I care about is nice clean power.
It's almost like the ***** cars, all suped up and pretty, but not powerful like a Bird or a Cammy.

i agree with zephor to a point. one of the reasons i bought my fosgates was cuz they looked cool as well as sounding great. i think appreance is very important in an amp becuase like u, i have mine in an amp rack that my friends can see. i wouldnt choose an amp simply becuase it looks nice, but i would be lying if i said appereance doesnt matter. but if u hadnt notices, most of the higher end brands make their amps look pretty too. i think ppi looks nice as does soundstream. and phoenix gold has some of the best designs too. if its plastic on the outside i wont buy it (i.e jensen) but if its metal, that usually is the heatsink the amp uses to breath (cool down and such) so if a company uses the heatsink to make it look a little better, it will catch my eye. also, when u go to buy an amp, what is the 1st thing u see, of course, its the way it looks.

If you want a great sub amp, pick up one of the JBL pro pwer series BP300.1, BP600.1, or BP1200.1. They're designed for sub frequencies only and deliver loads of power cleanly. Personally I don't care for Rockford products. I don't really like how any of their speakers sound and other amps fit my needs better.

To everyone bagging on Rockford...
If you look at the specks, you will all see that this years amps are more efficient than last years. They are not as tall this year as last year either. the main attraction of the new heatsink is that you can mount the amp any way and the endbells are reversible, as well as the logo plate on top i.e. if you need the power/ground on the left or right...you can now do it. As far as our subs go, the subs are actually not exactly the same speaker with a new look...I had a pair of HE2 12" subs in a sealed enclosure that hit 145 db. with a single 1000 watt amp driving them. the brand new subs are made more rugged this year too. new cone material that is way stronger than the cones from last year. If you go to rockfordfosgate.com, you can look at the specs. Or just go to any dealer and get one of the new catalogs...everything is in there. Rockford has not gone down, it has grown. If you look at the numbers that are available to anyone that wants them, you will see that profit is up...screw anyone that disagrees with me...i have fact you have s***...

amen to rockford, cause they are growing. i just think they should have kept the old school look of their products. dont get me wrong, the new subs and amp's specs look killer, but to me the overall look kinda looks cheasy to me, but they're probably rugged as hell

I just got my new Cructhfield in the mail today. Man you weren't kidding when you said that Rockford messed up their amps. Those things look rediculous. The subs look pretty cool though. I'm sure that they will appeal to some though. I won't be trading my Memphis or Boston Pro's for those anytime soon though.
