Currently I have a Bazooka sub in my trunk. It is not a very big one (8" maybe) and has a 80 watt amp built-in. I have had this thing for many years now and it actually gives out fairly decent sound.

But I expect that it could be much better.

I have a Kenwood 2x70 amp (probably bridgable to 140). Would this be enough power to run a single 10" or 12" sub? Would I need a custom box or would those generic square boxes at Audio King/Ciruit City/etc suffice?

I also have an old RF 70x1 amp (although I doubt it would be useful). Anyway, I'm just trying to see if could take advantage of that Kenwood and run a better sub than the Bazooka. Thanks for any suggestions!

 

I don't know about the other boxes (circuit city, best buy, etc.) but if i were you i would go ahead and buy a custom box. Jim makes them and a few other posts on here that have mentioneed places that do for reasonable costs. just buy what you need. Oh yeah check the specs on you amp if its bridgable, go ahead. pick carefully i found out there is a lot of garbage on the market. don't forget to add fuses to your power line.

I've got the fuses in my line, and I have a power distribution block in place and ready to run another amp. (Actually the bazooka has an amp, so I would just replace it with the Kenwood).

So, I'll look into a custom box. Assuming my Kenwood is bridgable (I'll have to look at it to be sure), will 140 watts be enough to make adequate bass from a single 10 or 12"?
