Help with origial 84 trans am AC Delco radio works but no display

I need some help with my original stock 84 trans am AC Delco radio. The radio works just fine but the clock nor the radio station will show so you have no idea what the time is nor what radio station you are tuning into.

Any ideas what this might be?

Mike

Re: Help with origial 84 trans am AC Delco radio works but no display

I just got a call from a guy who does this for a living. he was an old AC Delco repair man in the 90's, sort of retired and setup his own brick and mortar to work on AC Delco radio's. I had sent my radio in because nothing was working except that it would turn on, but no audio. I asked him why the display was not working, he said there were some separate capacitors that control this area. that is likely your problem I would guess. capacitors are known to go out on these radios. probably won't be long before the others follow. you could probably use a tune up. He charged 80 bucks to fix all of them and clean up the inside where they melt. that included shipping. he told me to send him a check once I get it plugged in and know it works.

DOes your guy still exist> ?? I have a 1984 T/A with the cassette radio and equalizer. The clock comes on, but nothing else works.

The original radio in my 1984 Trans AM did not function. Sent it to a repairman in London, On. He replace all the caps in the radio & repaired some other parts.
At thai point in time, I cannot set the clock nor save favourite radio stations. I live with it.
