No Room

Ok I got a NEW Equalizer last night its a sony and it works. Well our trim plate is only so big and with my head unit and the EQ above it there is allot of wires in the back. I cant push the Stero unit all the way back and get the trim plate on right any idea to free up some room back there. Also how do i get rid og enigne nose form one of my amps its a El Chepo model but hey i need an amp lol. I get static in it it sounds liek and goes up with the rpms and i know its engine nose any ideas how to get rid of that.

I had a friend who had that problem with his amp.
He added a noise filter and it eliminated the buzz or whining noise. I have also heard rumors about the alternator or something not being grounded good but I am not sure about that.
Try a noise filter. They aren't expensive so it won't hurt to try

Have fun!!!
I have two units stuffed in there too, maybe try reversing the two(the other on top). My DSP has less stuff sticking out. I had to cut some of the console away as well as the mounting brackets. Spent a lot of time and it could still use some more.

you have a 'ground loop'. Where did you ground the amp? Did you use sandpaper to scrape off all the crap so you have good metal contact?

i would just recheck your ground cable. Try to keep it as short as possible. I never really dealt with those filters, so i couldnt tell you. You could try it!

If you're really brave, you may be able to soften the heater ducts within the console with a heat gun while pushing on it with a 2"x4" and get it to bend inwards slightly. This will give you just enough mounting depth if you're lucky. I haven't tried it yet but have heard of it being done. I've also heard of people poking a hole in the duct doing this, then end up also having to fix the hole.

Good luck.
