anti theft code

I am purchasing a used Cavalier that was in a wreck. I cannot get the name of the original owner so I cannot get the anti-theft code. Does anyone know of a way to get it without going thru G.M.?

From: Fort Wayne, Indiana, U.S.A.
Car: CTS-V & 89 Z28 vortech charged
Engine: LS6 & 383 charged stroker
Transmission: 6-speed & 5 speed
Go to your local G.M. dealer and they can get the code by calling Delco. They have to rescue the radio unlock code out of your radio (make sure its in the car) and call with it. A service advisor should be able to get it for you and not charge you.

Thanks for your help. I'll head to the local G.M. dealer on Monday. Hard to believe they won't charge me though. It seems you never get anything for free nowadays.
Thnx again

If you were anywhere near Fort Wayne, Indiana, I would get it for you. Good luck.
