Re: Anyone Repair Factory Radios?
the simple cassette radio pictured does not have controls backlighting: in '82-83, only the top radios(with auto-reverse cassette) had controls backlighting. Most '84 radios were fully lighted-orange lighting for firebirds starting in '84.For any other problems with the pictured unit, solder joint repair should fix it-fresh belt to get the cassette working

If your area doesn't have any good old fashion stereo repair shops, then contact M&R.

Re: Anyone Repair Factory Radios?
M&R fixed my GTA's radio. They do a great job. But my GTA radio is rare, being the only one that works with steering wheel controls. If you can find one for sale, it'll be expensive and often have issues anyway. So mine was worth getting repaired.
M&R can fix this, but this is a pretty simple radio. Wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't find one cheap on eBay or some other online retailer that sell old car radios.

Re: Anyone Repair Factory Radios?
for the dead display problem, check that the constant 12v to the radio is present. Loose **** problem probably just a loose nut-fixable with minor, easy radio disassembly.
