Gave up on 4th gen radio - using Blaupunkt Alaska instead!
I posted [below] about putting a 4th gen CD unit in my 3d gen dash. After gathering all the info I decided against it. I don't like the idea of having to grind off the 4th gen bracketing and weld the 3d gen bracketing onto the 4th gen housing. All to keep a Delco unit? FUGGETTABBOUTTTITTTT.
So I let Crutchfield talk me into a Blaupunkt Alaska II indash CD player. We cross-referenced the 92 firebird with red display buttons and this was one of the two options. It has all red display buttons though the LCD display is blue with black numbers/letters. It has a fader lead so it will fade with the dash light controller.
For anyone who cares, I paid $199 for it, which includes all the adapters and mounting plates brackets to make the round peg fit the big square hole.
Anyone have any experience with this unit? Hopefully good experiences? Thanks in advance.
