The clock works / the LCD numbers are lit, but when I push the radio button, it won't turn on. Suggestions? 89 camaro rs

I had that problem. However, the radio had been out of the car for years & replaced with an aftermarket unit which failed. Since I live in Ontario, canada, I sent the radio to a technician in London On & he had to replace every capacitor as they all leaked do to the age. Now, i cannot set the time but will live with that.
Repair cost a lot of $$$
There is a company in Michigan, M&R that can repair your radio. Company has a good reputation.
