Best sound out of a Z
Best sound out of a Z
I worked at a stereo shop for a year and a hal and the best thing I ever did was get rid of those stupid 6X9's..... Now that I have some people ticked off I will tell you what I did!!!
My remedy for all the noise coming from the back was custom kick panels. I have tried everything and this got me second place in a pro competition. They look good and I only used Kenwood KFCP602 mid tweet combos. My only other speakers are a set of sony plate 4X6 in the dash for fill and 2 OLD RF subs. They are the good ones before they started building the cheap crap they put out now. I have sold enough RF to know that it has gone way down hill but I still run a 160a2 and 2 of thier subs

Put those old Rockford subs against a pair of HX2s. I guarantee the HX2 will produce substantially more output. Rockford has never been a "sound quality" company. Rockford is all about gratutious amounts of pounding output, and their new subs do just that.

Hey man I am not saying they won't pound. I wrote this wrong I guess. I should have said the quality of the new stuff sucks hard core!!! I sold it for quite awhile so i got to send a lot of it back to the manufacturer when it was fried. They had really big probs with 250a2 and 800a2 amps. We had a 75% return rate for them. The older amps and subs are unbeatable!!!! You can run the snot out of them forever and small amps will power big subs. Again all I am talking about is build quality!! And yes I have a new amp and it has fried YET!! I am running 8 ohm subs so it isn't much load

My store has had real good luck with the new rockford amps. We're running a 1 ohm load with a bridged 360a2 and it takes it all day long. Hardly heats up. It surprised me to say the least, but the thing pounds like hell.

I find that very surprising....We didn't dare even running a 2 ohm load on the ones we had. This year I think they changed the circuit board manufacturer again. They used to be made in taiwan or some third world country....hahah...The older stuff is AWESOME!! the big prob was when they brought the price down! I have a set of 12 punch. They are about equivalent to last years XLC's They have the same magnet set up. They are 8 ohm and I run them parallel to a g160a2. The 4 ohm load runs them smooth and I have a wool blanket that covers it all. It is so efficient that it has never over heated.
