Ive heard of peoples cd players getting jammed when they put in a burned cd. I have a Panasonic DFX400U. I just dont want to pop one in and have it be stuck in there.

From my experience, car CD players seem to be a little finniky. All in all, they should work. Just keep the burn speed down to minimize errors.

Sometimes it depends on how you burn them, doesn't it? I seem to remember having to "close session" or something like that in order for it to work for me. Like if I just took the cd out and tried to play it in the car once the burning was done it would not work. There was an extra step or something. But that all probably is program specific.

 

Yeah it is program specific.
If you create an audio cd then you should not have to close it.
Also cheaper less reflective cdrs will be a little more troublesome.
Also make sure it is a CDR and not a CDRW.
On CDRW you do have to close it....

 

i used to have A JVC CD player, one of the old Digifine models, it would not read any color burned cd xcept the light green ones, sumtimes the dark blue ones too, but i always had probs w/ it so then i bought myself the pioneer. actually better cuz the JVC was a low power one (15x4), and its kewl how the pioneer's orange display matches the bird's instrument panel

My CD player will not read audio CD-R's unless I close them.

Depends on the deck, my Panasonic has never had any problems with a CDR, i've never tried and RW though. Usually on an Audio CD i leave the session closed but the disk open, but closing it would probably be idea, thats just what EZCD creator 4 defaults to i belive. But IMO (computer hardware professional) it has more to do with the CD player than anything. My cheapo 5 disc changer on my desk dosne't like very many of them, and neither do a lot of freinds disc-mans. I think a better quality read laser is what determines if it will work or not. Just my .02

 

I have never had a problem with my Clarion playing CDRs. I've never tried a CDRW on it, though. I use either Burn & Go or HP CD Creator to burn the discs, and I make a point to use good discs. Also, I'm not quite sure what everyone is refering to when they are talking about "closing" the disc first. I am assuming this is different program to program, and mine does not have this. If I am way off-base on this, please enlighten me! Thanks.

I've tried a couple of CDRWs and they wont work, but the CDRs seem just fine.

 

alrighty....if you close the session then it should read it...no problems...you dont have to close the disk...i have a friend whos rampage (yes i know cheap 60$ cd players are scary) that can read the light greenish cds fine...but not the dark blue ones...my alpline can read anything accept for a cdrw but as far as i can tell nothing can read one of those things.

 

My panasonic deck has never had any probs playing either cd-r's or cd-rw's. I have used many different brands of discs they all work except memorex skipped a few times. It should work just fine.

 

you have to close burnt cd's or basicly they will only read form the CD-Burner you burnt it from. Also use the light green those work the best the dark blues have never worked for me. I think dark blue is for data... As long as its light green your fine. Also the cheap cd;\'s dont get em i bunrt 50 cd's on the cheap ones and the reflective film decided it wanted to peel. made a nice mess

 

on my rents 98 blazer it plays everything and never skipps. we use light green cd and cdrw's from maxell and it works perfect

If you make a CD-W, IT WILL NOT play on ANY CD player unless it is specified to do so.

Thanks for all the replies. I think i should be ok. I burned it on a light green cd and its a CD-R, not a CD-RW. All i have to do now is wait to get my car back from the paint shop to try it.

no CD player (car audio, home audio) will read any burned CD unless it went through the closing process. the "closing process" is telling the CD that there are no more tracks that will be added at another date. Its like its Patent or something.

what are these light green Cd's? I usually use sony discs. They seem to work really well.

 

i use the light blue bulk cd's from Micro Center had one problem on one deck. not bad for 50cds @8.99 a spindle.

When you leave a CDR open for additional burning, only a CD burner will be able to read it. Closing the CD should work fine in all CD players. Also, usually you can only have one session on the CD in order for it to be readable by a standard CD player.

CDRW's are a completely different story. The CD player must be designed to read them.

The same is true for CDR's burned with MP3 files. The CD player must be designed to read & decode the MP3 files. Right now there are only a handful of in-dash CD players that can read the MP3 format and they are a little pricey. But, when you consider a single CD full of MP3's holds 13 or more audio CD worth of music, it may not be such a bad deal after all.
