uh oh, broke something...

hey guys,

Well i think i blew my amp, actually im almost certain. But anyway.. i took it all apart to see if something was loose and found a spot in the amp that is all burnt.

-What caused this?
-is it fixable?
-how much $$
-should i be looking to spend to fix it?

Its a 400w Clarion amp. Its old, Pro Audio series to be exact. Does anyone have a clue about my questions? any experience? Id like to keep the amp just becuase i got it for free and it really kicked.

HELP!!

160 bucks to repair my PPI 275 when I did something stupid to it LOL... but a friend of mine got his California Profile amp fixed for 70 bucks. All depends on what it needs.

well thanks for the reply, but i have no clue what needs to be done in order for her to work again.

But the prices you stated dont seem to bad, i dont mind fixing the little pr!ck because i got it for free, so even if it cost $200 i wouldnt care.

haha Klayburn, ahh didnt think of that. Well actually i still wanted the amp for when i get my new truck, so i can power my highs with it.

Does anyone know of a good 4 channel amp for no more than $300 that will power highs with nice, clean results?

I saw a place selling Rockford 600.4's for 275 plus shipping. 75x4 I think. It was a dutch auction on ebay. Could be scary but I've had good luck so far.

1st Choice for inexpensive: Alpine VR series 4 channel (Don't remember price, but not expensive)
MTX T6304 $285
Rockford 200.4 $245
Rockford 400.4 $299

Pop a little extra and get:

Kicker ZR460 for around $350
PPI PC4200 for around $370

etc...

These are just some quick examples from searching prices online.
