here's what I got, what do I need
i'm ready to put a new stereo system in the 92. I has the BOSE gold in it now.. and it sux *** . The amp on the back of my driver's side kick panel speaker is fried.
I just got a Pioneer DEH-P31(for FREE!!).. I know it's not the best out there, but the price was right. I also have two Pioneer 140w 6x9's that I had in the 87. I plan on heading to a boneyard on monday, and pulling the speaker mounting boxes out of another car, so I can run those in mine. I've also got a box for 2 12's, but no speakers, or amp.
I want to remove all the bose stuff, the rear speakers and the panel they mount in, and I want to take the front speakers and the amplifiers out of the kick panels and mount regular speakers in them.
Can anyone give me some suggestions on speakers for the kick panels(4" I believe.. well according to my measurements), subs, and an amp. I want to run the 4's of the front channels, the 6x9's off the rear channels, and the subs off the RCAs, I plan on removing ALL the BOSE components.
Also, where can I get the wiring harness adapters and all that good stuff? Thanks.

Since you're ripping it all out, you're probably going to need to run all new speaker wire anyway, so for the sake of the remaining 4 wires, you may want to just tap off of those from the harness in the car. They make special connectors for this. It's made to clamp onto an existing wire, then a Male flat connector plugs into it. Makes for a nice clean install, and you can always go back to the old crap if you need to.

are you talking about the power wire, memory wire, ground, and the other one(backlighting??) Which connector should those be in. A friend of mine installs a lot of stereo's, so he has a lot of speaker wire, I have a lot of speaker wire. Initially I'm just going to run the 4 regular speakers. I'm on a tight budget right now.. with graduation 7 days away, I gotta start pinchin' pennys so I can pay for my tuition.. already got my housing bill.. OUCH! thanks.

Jim,
can you tell me what colors the wires I need to connect to my head unit for power are? I found the connector that supplies power to the factory stuff. but it has way more wires in this one than the 87 did.
i'm concerned about the bose amplifier power relay. will it screw up my new head unit? or can I just remove all the bose stuff and start over fresh? Thanks. I'm planning on doing everything next weekend.. my first weekend out of school!
