what size speaker for front kick panel

in the bose systems, what size is the speaker in the kick panel? I'm going to take all the bose stuff out, and I want to mount some Infinity Kappa's in the kick panels. I measured 4.25" from one end of the mounting plate to the other on one side. I haven't taken the other side apart yet, with my luck they're diff. sizes. Just wondering if anyone has done this.. or if i'll be the first!

I did that, I've got Infinity speakers all around including my subs. The speakers in the kicks are 4". I put 5 1/4" Infinitys in my Bose kick panels. I cut a hole in the front of the kick panels and dropped them in and top mounted them in the kicks. The drivers side kick panel is curved and more shallow than the passenger side (at least on my car 92) so I had to make a spacer for extra room, I took a piece of wood and cut a 6" circle then cut a 5 3/8" opening out of the middle, carpeted the wood ring to match the kicks then mounted the spacer to the kick and dropped the speaker in and mounted it to the wood spacer. They look really good and sound killer! I dont have a digital camera so I cant show any pics.

are there any 4" speakers thin enough to fit the driver's side kick panel? Are the Inifinity Kappa 4's thin enough to fit? I had heard that the passenger side was deaper than the driver's. thanks.

Your going to have a hard time finding any speakers to just go right in. The bose speakers are mounted on the inside with 3 screws in a triangle shape so your going to have to make some brackets to mount the new speakers. The 4" kappas might fit in the drivers side on the inside. Take the kick panels apart and look inside then you will have a better idea. There are a bunch of screws that hold the front and back together just remove all the screws and carefully pry them open.

I took them both apart.. I knew about the 3 screw thing already.. looks like I will be using my dremel a lot. If I shave down the mounting spots, and the "rim" of the speaker spot.. and maybe even screw all the way through the panel.. I think I'll JUST be able to fit them. If I have to screw through the panel.. i'll cut the ends off flush with the panel. Otherwise, i'll use the kicks to mount some tweeters, and I'll put 4x6's in the dash.. more **** I have to look into at the junkyard tomorrow.
