hey guys i built a custom box like the ones on ryjocustoms.com with 2 12" mtx thunder 4000's hooked up to a 600msx amp. it sound awsome but i know it could be louder. is there anythign i can do or is it just to close to the hatch? also i can't hear any bass out side of my car only bad rattles. thanks

I'd guess that the box isn't air tight. In my experiences I've found that a leaky box can sound ok inside except that you're not getting the full potential out of it, but when you go outside the car, there are loud spots and dead spots. Mainly, in front of and behind the car is loud, but the sides are quiet. With a perfectly sealed box, the sound is much more uniform outside.

my box is completly sealed. i have caulked the hel out of it and its is really airtigth and the divider it perfect. does that stuffin help?

Box stuffing slows down sound waves to make it sound like you have a larger box, not make it louder. Typically ported enclosures are louder than sealed enclosures so you might want to see if you could modify your current box to be ported. Don't just go drill holes in there, if you've taken the time to get the measurments and cubic feet right for sealed redo them for a ported box and get it right.
