amp for !0" sub
amp for !0" sub
anyone have suggestions on a good amplifier for a 10" Pioneer sub. 120w nominal, 400w max. I don't listen to much rap, and I don't want the sub to really "pound" I'm just looking to hold up ther bottom end. I have a sealed enclosuer.. `1.05 cu. ft.

Uh huh, leave it to polecat to come up with the Kicker
j/k Kicker is good stuff.
Other alternatives if you don't want to pop for the Kicker ZR money wise...
Xtant 121M would be a good first choice
Others in no particular order...
Kicker Impulse series
Alpine V12 series
MTX Thunder series
Rockford Fosgate
Most of these lines have amps that would be more than adaquate to power a single 10" sub at a decent cost.
These are just some starting points, but should send you in the right direction.
By the way Polecat, how well does a ZX460 run as a 3 channel? I need to off a bunch of amps I have lying around and pick up a single amp solution for the wife's car.
Thanks...

A 100-125 or 130watt RMS amp is what you need to spend the money on. You can go higher without damging the sub, but matching RMS power is the safest route. Actually running a big sub with a little amp is more likely to do damage than the opposite. With a low ower amp, you'll push the amp to hard, trying to get that 10" to sound like a 10", and the amp will hurt the sub. Clean power is more important than max power. You can also check out Kenwood. I don't know the model #, but they make a 150 watt mono sub amp. I think it costs about 100-120 bucks. Checi it out on www.crutchfield.com
I decided on the US Acoustics USX2080, 280 watts bridged. I already ordered it. I bought it based on it's wattage being rated at 12.9V as opposed to 14.4, .01% THD, and 101dB S/N ratio. It was also recommended by 3 audio shops.. just thought I'd update the post. Hope it's got enough to power my sub..
