getting a bad feeling

i have the feeling my sub is going to sound like $hit. I made my own box, to mount down low in the trunk, so I'd still have some storage space, and be able to put my t-tops where they belong. only I used 1/2" mdf, not 5/8" or 3/4". I've got 1 10" Pioneer IMPP sub(TSW28C), and i'm gonna be powering it with a USX2080 amp, 280w bridged. As a musician, ****ty muddy sounds from the bass dept. will drive me insane FAST. The box is sealed(very well), I used a vaccum rig a tech I used to work with had, sealed off the hole, and it held a 20 lb vaccum for 15 min.. I got bored after that. I don't know what kind of pressure pulses and whatnot to expect from my sub, but I just don't want it to sound like hell either. Any advice, or thoughts are appreciated.. just explain them too me, to give me a clear picture. Thanks a lot.

Anthony

There are 3 major things that will affect the sound.
1. How well the enclosure is sealed. Leaky enclosures will destroy the sound. It sounds like you've got this one pretty well covered.
2. Rigidity. Um, well, 1/2" sure isn't the best. With sufficient internal bracing you could probably get away with it.
3. Size. The enclosure needs to be the right size for the sub. I'm not familiar with the new IMPP, but the older 10s liked boxes that were 1.25-1.5 cubic feet.

Jim,
The information card the sub came with says the ideal internal volume for the 10" in a sealed box is 1.0 cu. ft +/- 1%. I've got exactly that with the sub mounted. What do you recommend for bracing? I'll have to do all the work through the speaker hole, but if you have any ideas, i'm game..
