JL 12W3 -or- Kicker Comp VR?

Ok i listened to both of these subs in the 12 inch model and really like both of them. They both sounded very much alike and i don't know which one to get. The JL is $200 and the Kicker is $150. I would like some suggestions on these subs like durability and bang for the buck because i would like to decide soon because i narrowed it down to these two subs. I listened to RF HE and HE2 and they hit hard but they lack the soud quality i am lookin for. So any help would apprecieted. Thanks

I also didn't like the RF's much. They do thump, but as you said their sound quality sucks. Kickers are nice for the thump, but i believe the JL's have more sound quality. I was deciding on JL's and RF's until i heard the Polk's. I wasn't really looking for anything that would tear knock the doors off my car. THe polks sound really nice and supply punch also. I don't like my bass drowning out my highs at all. I'd recommend the Polk's.

I may be able to look into the Polks but i was really impressed by the quality of JL and Kicker and i don't know much about Polk. Anybody else have a suggestion i want to get as much info on these subs as i can and i think that i am leaning toward the JL 12W3 but i was wondering about both of these subs.

i am currently running 2 kicker comp VR C12D's with a kicker ZR700 amp.....i have to admit that i really love the sound of the kickers. they have more punch then the W3's but lack a little in over all sound quality.

on the other hand, my truck is running 2 JL audio 12" W3's inside the cab, also with a kicker ZR700 amp. they seem to have a lot more punch, but that is just due to the fact that i have them in a much smaller area. i ike them alot, but both of them blew within the first year that i bought them. they were replaced under warranty and i havent had any trouble out of them for the last year and a half now.

i guess the point that i am trying to make is that when all is said and done, they are both very good subs. for the price, you cant beat the kickers, but i think that you will lack a little over all sound quality (which isnt that big of a deal, if all you want is big bass). the JL's, while a bit more expensive, are a better all around sub woofer. i would say buy the JL's and if you dont like them, you can always sell them and have enough money to buy the kickers. good luck and let us know what happens.

peace,
menace

ok i think am going to get the 12W3 with like a 300 watt amp. I was thinking about getting a 300 watt crossfire amp for 220 bucks. I can get the sub for about $200. Does anyone know if this is a good price for JL's?
