installing a double din radio

Has anyone installed a double din head unit in their Firebird? If you were successful, what mods had to be made? I was able to acquire a new faceplate and lower dash radio compartment from GM, so I can experiment with the existing parts.I dont want to cut up the rest of the dash or heater/AC ducts. Thanks

its more trouble than its worth bud, just get the factory 1.5 din unit, a few ppl make em, Alpine does, Pioneer makes em, that would be your best bet, or go with the good ol single din

Thanks for the info Nagga. I didn't ask the questuion correctly. I would like to install a a CD/Cassette player and the only 1.5 din is a Jensen and I have heard a lot of negative comments about Jensen. Panasonic has a douible din that they claim is a perfect fit for a Firebird. I gave them a call and they could not provide install details. If I cant get a double din installed then I will go with the 1.5 din CD only.
