1.5 DIN and mounting kits
1.5 DIN and mounting kits
I know the GM standard is 1.5 DIN, do the big companies make 1.5 DIN versions of their stereo's or would I be better of getting a mounting kit.
If so, where can I get the mounting kit

There are 1.5 DIN units available from Alpine, Pioneer and some other low quality companies. If you go with a single DIN unit, yo can get a mounting kit anywhere that sells radios.

They're not junk if that's what you're asking. Alpine and Pioneer are "mainstream" and offer a good quality product. To me, high end is stuff like the Alpine F1 system, Pioneer ODR, Nakamichi, etc. Regular Pioneer and Alpine is good stuff at a reasonable price.
Crutchfield.com sells Pioneer. Alpine will not authorize any online retailers to sell their stuff, so anybody online that does have it is not authorized by Alpine to sell the stuff so be careful.

Gib,
Like Jim said, you can get GM-sized radios from Alpine, Pioneer, as well as low-end brands like Audiovox, Jensen, and a few others.
In my opinion, I wouldn't bother with one of those anyway...they still stick out too much, light up the wrong color, et cetera...and they usually cost a lot more.
I have dash kits, wire harnesses, antenna adapters...whatever you need for your car...if you want we can figure out a price and try to figure out the shipping costs.
Also, look around on eBay...you could just buy a factory GM CD player out of a newer GM car...they go for like $150-200 U.S.
