Ok, I'm relativly new to car audio.
If I order a set of kicks, Lets say I get Rockford Fosgate 6 1/2" Fanatic Q Component System.
1. How easy is it to wire the speakers in the kicks to the amp?
2. Where in the world do I mount the crossover?
3. Does the crossover need power?
4. How easy is it to hook up two amps, what do I need to do?
I'm looking at getting Rockford fossgate stuff, probably.
Which amp would you recomend to run the componets, and possibly 6x9, or another set of components? This should be a 4 channel amp right?
And then I could get a 1 channel for my 2 12in sub box, or should I get a 2 channel. Plus what amp, both subs are rated at 150 RMS?
Let me know, I'd really appreciate it!!!!
I want to get a system hooked up ASAP... Thanks
Kj

very easy, it's actually easier then wireing speakers in the dash to an amp (since you do not nead to fish wires through the dash board)
2. Where in the world do I mount the crossover?
depends, if it's small enough, you can tuck it under the dash. For larger ones, I prefer just sitting them under the back seats. I put mine there in my 4th gens as well.
3. Does the crossover need power?
no
4. How easy is it to hook up two amps, what do I need to do?
If your main power cable is big enough to support both amps (depends on the size of the amps), then you just get a couple distribution blocks to split the power and ground, and split off your remote turn on wire.

I'm not very familiar with the paticular models of Rockfords, but if you want to amplify the front and back speakers, then yes, a 4 channel will be great. Depending on the speakers, and how loud you like your music, anything from 40 watts / channel up to 75 watts / channel will work great.
Me personally, I would not amplify the back speakers. I would just run them off the head unit power. Many people are hesitant to give up back speakers, but if you are putting 6 1/2's up front, then the added midbass you get makes having the back speakers not as critical.
A class D mono amp for the subs is going to be the best bang for the buck. I don't know if Rockford makes any or not.

So do you think I could get the Rockford Fosgate Power/Punch 400 / 4 channel. 50W RMS per channel at 4 ohms. and run the kicks off 2 channels, then bridge two channels and run the subs off them?
Good Idea, Bad Idea?
