need help with 97 factory cd player...

ok, everything works fine, but I can't seem to get the deck to sit right. It sticks out too far on the lower left hand side. It sits well enough to look ok, but i'd rather it mount flush. Any ideas?

thanks in advance.

You could probably get a couple of small pair of Vise Grips and reshape the mounting brackets on the radio slightly.

Or, instead, put a few washers behind the mounting brackets on the other side, so at least both sides stick out equally.

Well, I had already bent them back. I also cut off the screw in the back, and cut of some of the plastic in the back of the radio pod. The cd player has no problem going in, except on the lower left side. i'm thinking it's the wiring harness, but how do I add more room in the back of the deck?

as a side note, I'd like to comment on the sound quality this deck puts out. It's not as feature packed as an aftermarket deck, but I bought this one after two of my decks have been stolen this year. I like the stock look on it. And the theftlock, heh heh. Also, because of it's size, it's bulky enough to be a pain getting out of the car. I know if someone wants something bad enough they'll get it, but I'm sure as hell gonna make them work for it.

I just threw a '96 Chevy Lumina CD player into a used limo I just bought...it looks perfect in a GM car.

Anyway, like you said, before you can fix the problem, you have to identify it. If it's a depth issue, with the plugs on the back of the radio banging into stuff, you're going to have to cut out some extra space back there, or try to wiggle the wires into a different spot.

you know, after re-reading my post, your right. I never said a thing about sound quality. Sorry Well, it has very good highs and lows, the equalizer is good for helping match any kind of music, the cd player doesn't skip bad over harsh bumps, and it'll power 2 12 inch subs with enough bass the rattle your teeth. No amp. Also, there really isn't any room left to wiggle the wires or cut anything out. It is a slightly larger deck than the origional stock one, so until I figure something out, I'm just gonna leave it. If anyone else has put a newer radio in, let me know how it fits, thanks.
