Troubleshooting- deck install

I was helping my buddy put an aiwa (#417?) deck in his 98 firefly yesterday and we ran into a little bit of trouble. We had the hiring harness wired in, and had power to the harness-but the face of the deck won't light up. When the face is removed the red security light flashes. No fuses are blown. When we called the retailer, they just told us to come down and get a new deck - we did and that one didn't work either. Any ideas of what went wrong?

The security light gets it's power directly from the battery through the 'memory' wire. Both the memory wire and the switched power wire need to have voltage for the unit to turn on. Since you know you have power through one of them, double check the switched power wire and make sure you have juice at the head unit. You could try hooking the mem wire to both positive wires on the h.u. and see if i turns on the. With 12V going to it through both, it should turn on. If it doesn't, another trip back to the salesman is in order! Hope this helps a little!
