Orange Illumi Wire

How do I wire up this wire from the head unit when I don't have a stock connection for it? It would be nice to have my deck dim at night, it is rather blinding.

Thanks

Find the wire that runs to the Gauge Indicator. The light inside there also dims with the dash lights.

How can you not have a stock connection for it???

Use the brown wire in the factory radio wiring harness. That goes to the car's light switch, and was used for the "Factory" clock dim. It either gets 0 volts or +12 volts. The gray wire is variable, and runs off the dash dimmer wheel. What kind of head unit do you have? You probably want to use the brown wire as a "dim" signal.

These two wires are in a connector all to themself. You know how you have the three main connectors for the radio (black, blue, and white)? Well this was a little two-wire white connector that went to the "passenger" side of the back of the factory radio.

I have a Pioneer deck. I don't have a clock.

Riiiight.. Pioneer makes many head units. Does yours have a model #? Does it even have a wire coming out of it for illumination?

And it doesn't matter if you have a clock now or not. From the factory, your car had a clock on the radio, and it would dim when the owner put the lights on.

Well, good luck. You can always paste a small piece of window tint over it.

Well, in that case, cool! I told you exactly how to do it.
