Questions on installing.....
Well okay, I got a jvc kameleon off one of my friends for free. And I posted here a while ago about it and I just had a couple more questions. The wiring harness for the jvc unit has the black ground wire. And so does the gm wiring harness adaptor I got from best buy. If I'm supposed to ground these wires, do I just ground each one separately? Or do I twist them together and then ground them both? And a couple more questions, for an aftermarket stereo to fit in the stereo compartment, do you have to put something under the unit? Because there is a lot of room under the unit, will it just be hanging there? Or does it need some support underneath? I also read that you shouldn't twist wires together to connect the wiring harnesses. Is this like really bad or something? Sorry for all the questions, I'm just getting a little confused. Thanks a lot!

For your first question about the ground wire, as long as you are using a wiring harness adapter to connect the JVC harness from the deck to the GM harness coming from the dash, you shouldn't have to splice anything. If the ground wire is in the harness, the idea is that the deck's wire will be attached to the wire coming from the dash. The black GM dash wire is grounded. That is the purpose that it serves, you don't have to ground it again. Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but as long as the black wire from the deck is attached to the black GM wire leading back into the dash, then you don't have to do anything else.
As for the deck, I assume that you picked up a GM adapter kit for the JVC so that it fits into the stock dash hole. It should screw into the dash spot at the front, and no the back will not be supported. My deck is setup the same way and I haven't had any problems, although the first time I installed a deck in my car, I wondered about the same thing. It just seemed strange that only the front end would be supported. However, it does work. There may be different ways to set it up, but I don't know them.
