Can it be done???

I have my subs, my amp, and my box all ready to go, but my deck will be in the shop for a while (repair + parts delay)
Is it possible to wire my amp into the stock tape deck of my '83, and how would i go about doing this.... the amp uses RCA type conncections.

For the record, i know virtually nothing about car audio setup. Just what i read in my manuals, thanks.

yes you can, first off alot of amps already have line level inputs, what you do is wire your speakers into them for the soure. if you amp doesn't have one you can buy one for like $30 that will go from speaker wires, to RCA.

there is a much easier way, this is how i did mine, take the female end of a pair of RCAs, strip them and cut the surrounding tinsel off, use the middle wire and hook it up to the positive side of your rear speaker, do the same for the right/left channel, this works and produces no noise that i could hear in my old system with factory deck, i am not liable for anything that u make go wrong lol good luck

nagga, sounds like that would toast the amp's input side pretty quick- it's fine?

Get the convertor. The other way may work fine but I've never done it. Those convertors have been handy to have around when someone decides the want an amp after they bought a deck with no pre-outs.
