I am installing my system and lookin for good speakers for the rear sails.will a 6.5 componet system fit?and is it worth it?does it sound that much better?and has anyone installed one? I bought a set of cadence 4 x 6 plates with a seperate tweeter and mid it has two availble wiring diagrams one is using it for just a midrange and the other is using it for full range.which is bettter and cadence also sells componet 6.5 are these good? or im looking at getting some mb quarts the 3 way 6x9 it sound easier to install. need help.

Thanks

well, you can fit 6.5 comps if you want. it just depends on what you're lookin for. competition-wise, rears are meant just to accompany the fronts, if they are there at all. a good set of coaxials would work just fine. i bought the coax version of my front comps just so i had something that matched as close as possible.

good choice on that 4x6 plate, i think that u will be much happier with the 3way 6x9s that with a 6.5" comp. set, this is because the 6x9s have a bigger cone, which gives u better bass response for the midbass, plus it has 2 other speakers, a midrange and a tweeter, but make sure you give it some good power, like in my car, i have pioneer 4x6s in the dash, alpine 6x9s in the rear, those are all hooked up off my deck, i also built custom door panels with JL AUDIO 5¼" 2 way speakers, i hooked them up to a Lightning audio b200.2 amp, it puts out abuot 75w rms to each of my speakers, and omg is sounds so nice, and with seperate amps, or one 4 channel and one for your subs, u can fine tune your system alot better, so u can kind of blend the bass with the mids and highs
i guess i kinda got carried away on this one lol

I disagree. A component set will be much more accurate than a 6x9 due to the irregular cone shape. The 6x9 will not give you a better bass response, it will give you more bass due to the larger cone area. Not only that in 6x9's the crossovers tend to be cheaper than those that are included in component sets. I've heard plenty of 3-way 6x9's and 2-way component sets, In my opinion the components sounded better.

But in any matter I'm not a fan of rear fill. If you have a good front stage you have no need for rear speakers, if the goal is to feel like you are in a concert. I do like the 4x6 plates over the coax 4x6's for the same reason I like the components over 6x9's.

Another thing, Don't get MB Quart rear speakers if you have Candence fronts. You want everything to be made by the same manufacturer and usually the same series. Combining brands of speakers (esp. full range) will result in a confusing soundstage.

In general, coax speakers (including 6x9s) are lower quality than all but the cheapest components. Component speakers may cost more, but there's a reason. A good set of components will sound FAR, FAR better than any 6x9s, and will produce just as much bass.
