First, I want to say awesome install job man. I was jus curious what you made that cover for you subs out of and how it's mounted in the "trunk". Also, what did you make the amp shelf out of?

I did this before I was more experienced with fiberglass, so everything there is 3/4" mdf.
The board covering the subs is 3/4" mdf, with 2 large holes cut for the subs. Over these holes, I attatched heavy duty grill metal from Select Products. The whole thing was then covered in grill cloth.
the sub box is screwed into the metal of the well, from under the car. The grill board just sits on top.
The amps are mounted on a 3/4" board, which is secured to the sheet metal of the car, but I used L-brackets to move away from the gas tank. The top board rests on some spacers to make it flush with the amps.
Thanks for the compliments. This was my wife's car, and it was a daily driver, so I tried my best to give her the most boom, but with the ability to load up groceries in the back. That's why I used a 3/4" mdf and 16 gauge metal grill. Normal grill metal is not made for holding up frozen turkeys and gallons of milk!

LOL at that last sentence. A few more questions now. I'm looking at getting a t-top car eventually and still want to be able to keep the t-tops in the back properly. To mount amps and make a flush cover, I was thining of using something like 1/4" plywood or a kind of wood my dad used for paneling on a cabinet he made. I don't know what kind of wood it is, I just know it's very light. I think it's birch but I'm not sure. To cover the subs, I was thinking of a panel of this same stuff with a layer or 2 of fiberglass for strength. On the underside, I'd iberglass over a criss-cross pattern of thick rope to give the panel some bracing. That should be far strong enough to hold up the t-tops right? Let me know what you think.<font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by DJSexay:

If it's only the weight of the t-tops you want to hold up, the 1/4" stuff should be fine. For more heavy duty stuff, I'd step up to 3/4"
As for the top, thinner wood will work, but keep in mind you want something strong enough to hold up under any cargo you may put back there.

Actually, I still have the sub box and grill. Well, I have the grill minus the cloth, but you could recover it. The box holds 2 10's , and I think I made each chamber .6ish cu ft each. Shoot me an email if you're interested in getting them real cheap, + shipping.

I never put cargo in the back, so I'll go with 1/4" when I start the project (it'll be a while). I either put stuff in the back seat or in the passenger seat. I'll keep you in mind about the box, but I don't have any use for it right now. <font face="Verdana, Arial" size="2">Originally posted by DJSexay:
