will std sub-woofer work with replacement car radio

I have an 87 firebird with the built-in subwoofer system -it's separate from the radio and "appears" to source the output from the speaker output cables on the existing car radio.

I was thinking of replacing with one of the pioneer 1.5 din stereos -would i be right in saying that the subwoofer would still work?? -if not, what can i do to make it work?

much appreciated for any help!!
thanks

all you have to do is find the power wire for it and connect it to the power wire for your new head unit. worked for me then it blew
