what reciever was original in 84

mines gone and i want to put one in and the original reciever harness plugs are unmodified and i want to keep thjem that way, but they are uncommon style IE i cant use plain spade connectors to tie into them to put any other deck into the dash, so...

how big and what kind of reciever would a car with these options get? pics would be good, i assume delco brand was always used from factory no matter the RPO codes ? were they shaft style or no ? 1984* could i put one from an 85 suburban in the car ? plugs look same to me, but size of unit, hmm... lemme know anytihng i need to know at all.,

68,

There were several audio options available in ’84,including:
AM Radio
AM/FM Radio
ETR (Eletronically Tuned Receiver) AM/FM stereo radio with digital clock
ETR AM/FM stereo radio with cassette tape and digital clock
ETR AM/FM stereo radio with seek and scan, cassette tape, digital clock, and graphic equalizer
ETR AM/FM stereo radio

I’m not sure about the AM and AM/FM radios, but the ETR’s were not shaft style, they were 1.5 din with the tuning and volume ***** on the left like most thirdgens. Check eBay for pictures, I don’t know of anybody other than Delco who made radios for thirdgen Camaros.

You can buy a harness that will plug in to your factory one and allow you to install a new radio without cutting the factory wiring out. I got mine at Best Buy for around $15.

Almost forgot, the one you have from the '85 Suburban should fit, just try it out.
