stock system

I have the bose gold system that came stock in my 92 RS, with an aftermarket deck I installed. As I understand it, and I may be way off, the stock speakers run at 1/2 ohm and each have an amp hookded up to them. If this is the case, what are my replacement options?

usually you'll be needing to replace the speakers and run new wires from the aftermarket headunit (or amp) to them.

1 amp per speaker? or one amp for all for speakers? if it were one for all, then they are proably all 4 ohm speakers, wired in parallel, thus cutting the load to half an ohm, but it would have to be a DANG good amp to run @ 1/2 an ohm!

I was told that they each had an amp and that the speakers ran at 1/2 an ohm. I know that most aftermarket speakers run at 4 or 8 ohms, so my options are limited if this is the case. I tell you what, this system sounds clearer and better, the louder you turn up the music!

Peripheral BOSE Interface

Buy a Peripheral electronics Interface for the system and save yourself the time & hassle of replacing all the speakers and re-wiring the whole car !!

The interface will allow a Stock BOSE head unit to be replaced by ANY non-BOSE reciever and still run the BOSE speakers and amps without any problems.

These things cost about $60 - $70 and are really easy to install (if you have ever installed a radio in a car before - you will have no problem slicing the interface into your system.) The Interface has ajustable "gains" for each of the 4 channels to allow you to tweak the sound volume on ech speaker to be just the way you like it.

The Interface also has a GM plug on the back of it so you don't have to cut your factory Harness. (in case you havn't already done that ! )

You can see the interface by clicking on this link (or cut/paste this link into your browser ! )

I have the interface already. I am wondering how I can put in new speakers, not the deck, the deck is a new Pioneer.
