4th gen question for DJ
4th gen question for DJ
Hey DJ thank for the reply in the how many dbs part there. I have another question that you should be able to answer. I got a buddy witha '94 T/A and he just bought replacement speakers for the car. Alpine SPR 6.5 comps and coax's to be exact. We are going to put the speakers in the car next weekend and was wondering if they are any troubles using the stock door component locations? I see from your site it looks like you used them. How hard is it to install aftermarket in there. And how do you mount the tweeter in that location in the door. Any hint tips or thing to beware of would be a real help so i have some idea of what im going to get into before get into it. Oh yeah he's running a amp on those speaks so where is a good spot to run speaker wire through. kinda hard to tell from your pics.
the stock door spot is a 6 1/2", so they should fit fine, you may have to drill new holes on the baffles, thats all.
I run the wire right through the stock rubber where the stock wiring goes through, I just tape the wires to a clothes hanger and push it through, once you get the hang of it, it's easy.
I personally prefer my tweeters on the a-pillars. In my wife's Z28, I just cut a hole in the plastic and used the tweeters flush mount kit. They aim at the center of the windshield. Sounds good.
It's not a tough car to work on, but when you take the doors off, be careful, it's not like a 3rd gen with the plastic clips, but it has hooks, so you actually lift the door up then off. You'll see what I mean.
good luck
