overheating

i have a rockford 700s and two power DVC's i have it wired so i'm using the left - to one speker and right + to the other so i have two wires going in the input one from the amp and one to the other speaker, and likwise for the other speaker. my problem is i turn it up all the way and after 10 minutes it overheats is it the way i have it wired? what can i do besides puting a fan in the amp?

you're running the amp too hard. sounds like your doing a lower ohm rating than the amp can handle. also sounds like you're bridging the amp too? what are the sub voice coils? 4 ohms each? i think your best setup would be to run parallel of the amp and have each sub run serial. anyone else think that sounds about right?

Yes, I think your OHM load is too low. Although that amp should be pretty stable at @ 2 OHMS. If the box has two seperate chambers then you can run it stereo, I would not recomend that, but its an option.

Keep it mono, Bridge the amp and series the speakers if your speakers create a 4 OHM load each.

Give us some more info. What OHMS the speakers are.
Where the amp is located.
How long the ground is.
Wire Gauge.

That should help out much better.

the coils are 4 ohms a piece the amp is stable at 2 ohms the manual said it would get the best ventalation on it's side so thats how i mounted it. i have 4 gauge a distribution block (only running one amp) a 1/2 farad monster cap and a footlong 8 GA. ground.

Well everything looks good, but still cutting out.

Only thing I can think of is one of the speakers might be bad. Hard to say. Maybe try running one speaker at a time, then switch them, see if it still cuts out that way.

Is the Amp too hot to touch?

it's too hot to touch thats how i know it's overheating. i have 4 gauge wire running into a distribution block that splits it into 4 8ga. and i have one coming out of that running into the amp.

Did you try to run one at a time?
