Hey guys, this is my first post in here because ive never really gotten into audio stuff that much in my camaros. Last night I was driving my g/f home and when I came across some rail road tracks I hit them kinda hard and my faceplate on my radio came loose. So I snapped it back on and nothing happened!
The screen just illuminated but nothing else. When I got home I checked all the fuses and I made sure I had power running through the plug in the back. THe only thing that works is the dimmer on it. When I take the faceplate off and shake it I can kinda hear somthing shaking inside of it. I checked to make sure I was even getting power to the faceplate itself. Everything seems to be fine. What the heck happened to my stereo? Did I just bust the faceplate somehow? If so, Can I buy a replacement one? Its just a cheap JVC w/ remote, but I still liked it. Does anyone have a CD player w/ remote they would be willing to sell? Any input is appreciated guys.

sounds like you busted the faceplate. You can buy a whole new unit for probably around $100 (if you want a cheap one) on eBay, or you may even be able to buy just the faceplate on eBay -- do a search for your model number and see what you find.

ya! that sucks totally sounds like a broken face
but you can probly buy the face off ebay, or from the manufacturer

It could be that the deck to faceplate connection (the gold interface on the back of the faceplate and the front of the deck) got a bit mangled when it popped off. You could try repositioning the faceplate or moving it around a bit when it is in position to see if it changes anything or makes the display cut in/out, but that could also make it worse if it is fixable.
