Length of RCA Cables

I have finally accumulated enough stereo equipment to finally install it all. I am going to be running a Fosgate 500.2 and a Fosgate 400.4 with Monsters 4 guage kit. I am now trying to figure out what length RCA cable I am going to need. I am going with monster since I can get it for 75% off. But it has been 6 years since I installed a stereo in my old camaro and I forgot the length needed and since just about everyone here has done it I just thought I would ask before guessing. Any help would be great and any other tips you may have for installing to make my life a little easier would be greatly appreciated.

i always got 20ft cables, and have tons of left over (i ran my patch cables along the tranny). i think you could get away with 15-16ft sets if you're installing in the trunk. i'm installing amps in my rear seat and bought 15 ft sets just in case and also cause they were on sale

Yea you will notice a huge difference. The Monster Cable has much better sheilding on it than the cheap stuff. You will not get any electrical interference with the Monster cable. The best thing for you to do is to find someone that works for Circuit City, Best Buy and have them buy it for you. I actually work for Best Buy Corporate and can get that stuff for nearly nothing. I will never go back to buying cheap stuff.

there is no need to spend hundreds on patch cables. this has been debated over hundreds of times. yes, the really cheap ones will cause problems and make the system sound like crap. however, there is no reason to spend $80-100 for a patch cable either. if you find one that is twisted, shielded (even though it can actually cause more problems), and with decent tips, you're all set. i got mine on sale for $15 a piece, usually around $40. some of the best setups have used cat-5 cable (what you use on a computer for your network card) and some good connectors. building those cost maybe $0.50 a foot. there is no point in spending big bucks on monster cable, and i'm glad i figured that out before i started rebuilding my system.

Cheap cable should make NO difference unless they allow your system to pick up noise.

What kind of patch cables to use is, however, a much debated subject. Do a search on the internet and you'll find much info. about this subject.

BTW - I bought three 3m Rockford Fosgate Reflex Interconnects for about $55. I'm happy with them and would not spend more money for different cables.
