Need Holley FP help

I've replaced my stock fuel pump with a Holley 12-327, 110gph, 6-8psi street pump. It does fine 1 & 2 gears to 5000rpm and when I shift it into 3rd gear and hit 4600rpm it falls flat on its face. I can let all the way off the throttle and then nail it again and it does good to 4600rpm again. What's going on?

I plugged the fuel return line because the new pump doesn't use it. I bought a new in carb fuel filter but I think I'm going to take it out and just use an inline. I checked the in-carb fuel filter before I put it in and it had a little check valve in it and it seemed like I had to blow hard to get air through it.

Let me hear some ideas/solutions. Thanks in advance. See sig for mods.

Edit: I forgot to tell you I am using the stock quadrajet with AU secondary metering rods. Thanks,

Craig

Recent additions: Del-A-lum front control arm bushings, Moog ball-joints, Energy suspension front sway bar end links, Moog rear sway bar end links, Eibach pro-kit springs, tokico shocks/struts. Need relocation brackets and control arms.

FWIW I doubt the problem is the pump. That pump should be able to support your setup well past 4600..
