primary rod numbers
I went to Carbs Unlimited to order some primary metering rods for my qjet, but the number on my rods does not match any of the numbers in their list or in any of my carb. books. Stamped on my rods is 54P, but that doesn't come close to any of the numbers on their pages. Does anyone know what this means and which jets I should order. Thanx.

If it's still a computer controlled QJet then don't touch the primary metering rods. They are desgned to work with your ECM and mixture control solenoid. Messing with them could cause your car to run WORSE than before and could throw a "Check Engine" light. Concentrate your tuning effors on the secondary side of the carb.
In that case you want to look at the carb's part number stamped into the side of the carb just behind the secondary throttle arm. It will start with a 70xxxxx or 170xxxxx. If it's a 70 carb use rods stamped with a "B" (like 46B, 48B, etc). If it's a 170 carb use "K" stamped rods (46K, 48K, etc.)
Cadillac often uses special parts in their carbs. It wouldn't surprise me if the "P" rods had a special Caddillac-only taper to them or a special tip diameter or somethign weird like that. But if you're gonna start tuning that thing seriously stick with the commonly available parts- B or K rods. A 54 ANYTHING rod is too lean unless it's got an 80 or greater jet size. Jets are all interchangable, fortunately.
You didn't mention what size jets you have in the primaries but if you want a good starting point try a 76 primary jet and a 46 primary rod.
