my car is an 84 Z with a 5.0 H.O. and it has a 4bbl quadrajunk on it and it dies, backfires every once and awhile and occasionally deisels when i go too shut it off. the previous owner put a coolant temp sensor, a tps .and some other sensors on it and it still does it. It also burns really rich and smokes when first started. any help is greatly appriciated.

 

These things were not meant to go 100,000-200,000 miles without service.They can run well if rebuilt and adjusted right.There is more to it then just throwing in a tps,and to do that without replacing the m/c solonoid shows the rebuild wasnt done right.Try again with the rebuild by someone who knows these carbs,The carb shop,JET.or try a remanafactured carb,make sure it has a warranty.Are you getting any codes(check engine)?and is the ignition ok?
