I've got brand new 5/8 fuel line running from the tank to my brand new Holley Mechanical fuel pump, up to an Edelbrock 600cfm. I threw a fuel gauge on it and it's reading 9lbs of pressure. Why so high? Should I get a regulator and what would be an optimum pressure to be at?

Optimal pressure should be around 5-6 psi. You might need a regulator to help lower it a bit. Are you running rich? Gallons per minute are what you (with the NO2 shot) should be more interested in...

Depending on exactly which Holley pump you bought that could be normal. They have street versions (6-8 PSI) and strip versions (7-9 PSI). if you goofed and bought the wrong one you can regulate the pressure down with Holley regulator from Summit: HLY-12-803.
