Help: Complete Bog down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey I have a quadra jet carbed 305. it is a 1986, and right now I am having a huge friggin problem. it is stock for the most part right now. But whenever I start it up and then I start to go, if I hit the gas even remotely hard at all it just bog downs like NO gas is getting to the engine and about dies. so my quarter mile would be about a 25 sec. since I can't accelerate faster then my friends festiva! lol, someone please give me some ideas on what might be the cause of the problem. No tuning or changes have occured since before it started doing this. Thank you

I would suggest changing your fuel filter first. That'll take away most of your problem I think. After that, you might look at how well your fuel pump is pumping. Sounds like you have just enough fuel in the bowl to keep it running, but not enough to support any rpms or vacuum demand.

Hope this helps!

yep sounds like fuel restriction is the problem.

I had this happen to me. Anything over approxamately 1/2 throttle caused it to dog out. I had the carb rebuilt and it was missing some brass bushing. This didn't allow the secondaries to act properly (open). Check to see if the secondaries are opening.

btw, if you have some blackish smoke pourin out of your exhaust that is a almost a definte choke problem, just for the hell of it put some 94oct in it and maybe that might make a quick fix, you never know best of luck to you

I don't know a lot about Q-jets, but make sure that any squirters or diaphragms aren't cracked or broken. If they are then you will get poor initial throttle response and no throttle response on a cold engine. Probably a fuel filter though.
