are road demons good

are they better than a holley 600? i want a carb for street use and occasional strip use that can handle 300-350 horses. what would a good carb be for this application that is NOT OVER CARBED. no holley 750's. just something that will get good mileage and good performance as well, performance more than mileage but mileage still matters. thanks

Get the new Holley Street Avenger. I have heard nothing but good about these. I have had a Demon, and wouldn't go back to another for half the price.
But that's my opinion.

Some people have very strong opinions when it comes to particular brand carburetors - but most recognize when properly tuned any brand can make power. I have a Road Demon and I like the carb, although it's a bit rich stock - I've jetted mine down. From my parts salesman days I'd say if you want "bolt it on and go" get a 1406 Edelbrock (calibrated for mpg, elec. choke) or a 1405 (calibrated for power, manual choke). I personally don't think the added feature of Holleys Avenger carbs are worth the extra $. If I was going to get a Holley I'd just get a standard one and add the upgrades. Any way you go get a book on your carb of choice.
