FUEL PUMP....Cmom!
I have a 87 chevy camaro... from my signature you can see what engine I have now. So far I have run the stock mechanical pump. But I have been thinking of changing it. THe problem is that the pump have three ports. The extra one is supposed to be for emissions. I also hear that the my card has and extra electric pump in the tank (previous L69) I have been thinking of puitting and aftermarket pump. The question is :
What do I do with that extra (third) port that goes on the mechanical fuel pump. I am understand that the mechanical pumpt only have an inlet and outlet, and no third port for emissions. Can I just plug it?

The third port is not for emissions. It is a return line to send excess fuel back to the tank to keep the supply moving so the fuel coming to the pump doesn't have as much of a chance to heat up. Eliminating the return line will likely negate any benefits you would see from an aftermarket pump, especially for daily driving in hot weather.
Although what you are proposing is what CHP did with their project "My Generation Camaro", it isn't wise (they also put on an Edelbrock Performer before cam & headers - go figure).
Exactly what problem are you trying to fix? With the in-tank electric pump and a three-port mechanical, you've got an ideal setup. If the mechanical pump is getting weak (that's what CHP claimed about theirs), just put on a high quality replacement. CHP admitted they used a pump that the owner had sitting around from a previous project, but if that doesn't apply to you, just get a good replacement 3-port.
For what it's worth, for their ZZ4 conversion kit, GM gives you an in-tank pump and a three-port regulator - no mechanical. I don't know if the electric pump in the kit is the same thing your car has, but that is probably even a better way to go.

When I got my crate motor from GM they gave me a part number for a recommended GM mechanical HO fuel pump. It is a 3 port design. I'll try to find the part number at home. Matter of fact I might still have the pump if you want it. Let me look around. I only used it for maybe 2000 miles then I went to a Holley Blue pump.

You could also go with a mechanical high pressure "strip" fuel pump and use a regulator to keep the return line.
this is to karp when you went to the blue pump what did you do for fuel lines form the tank to the pump did you install a sending unit from an early model? that just had a pickup on it? see my problem is when i did my blue pump i just spliced into the lines that were already coming out of the tank, im not really sure what is in the tank 1987 camaro q-jet

I ran all new lines when I switched to Electric, but my car came only with a mechanical pump.
For the record I dumped the Blue pump this year and went back to mechanical(Edelbrock pump). No matter what I tried to do I had nothing but problems getting a steady flow of fuel from the pump. My pressure would also drop in upper RPM's. Changing back to a mechanical pump was like nite and day for my engine.
