Fuel Pressure psi ???

I have a Holley 750 double pumper with vacuum secondaries. Its on top of a 383 stroker motor. What should the fuel pressure regulator be set at? It is just pouring fuel in there right now but I'm not sure what it is set at. I think its way over 10psi though which is way too much. Help me out please what psi should I set it?????????

Thanks,
Sean

I believe it should be about 6 psi.

Woohoo... 1000 posts.

When does a double pumper have vacuum secondaries? Just wondering, I always thought a D.P. had mechanical secondaries.

any more f/p than 7.5 will over power the needle and seat also if your not sure which carb you have just send me an e mail with the numbers on it double pumper is mechanical sec. back to fuel presure most of the time 6--6.5 will do it depends on what size of fuel line and what kind of pump it is

Well the old one I had was DP with mechanical secondaries and it was a piece. I dont really know anything about carbs because I had TPI on my car so I am slowly learning. I can find out the # on it but I know its vacuum secondaries thats the reason I got it. It runs so good compared to that mechanical POS I had. Actually I still have it if anyone is interested in it. It in perfect shape if you know what you are doing with it. Anyway thanks for helping me learn. Any input is appreciated considering I know nothing about carbs.

Thanks,
Sean

My fuel line is 3/8 and stock accelerator pump and stock fuel pump which is electric I think with a Mallory f/p regulator. Basically when I turn the key on it starts pushing gas I dont have to pump the accelorator.

I did put a softer spring in the diaphram for the back barrels but thats all I have done to the carb. The rest of it is stock. I just bought it today and plan on having it running by tomorrow.

By "pushing gas" do you mean you can see fuel splashing at the top of the carb? Is it flooding? If so then like michaelc says, your pressure is too high.

?stock fuel pump stock for a 92 z? if so it is too much pressure cause it was designed for a fuel injection set up
even with a regulater it is probably too much, most regulaters that are designed for carbs only reg. from about 15--down im not sure about the kind you have though?

I am getting ready to put a carb motor in my 91Z. If you run the stock pump, you need to run a return style regulator. Mallory part 4309 is a good choice. It is $75 from Jegs.
