Your spring tension for the AV butterflies might be too strong.Take the top of your breather off and push down on them,do they push down fairly hard and snap back?I like mine set so it pushes down quite easy and barely has the tension to return on it's own. This gives it a quick response. The tension is easy to set.Look on the passenger side of the carb for the spring that adjusts the tension. You have to kind of look up at it from below,it's on the out side of the airhorn where the shaft comes through. You'll need a small screwdriver and a small (2.5 mm?)allen key to do the job.Make sure you hold the screw before you loosen the allen screw or you 'll lose all your tension.I think moving the screw counterclockwise will loosen the tension. If this doesn't work, look for places where the av doors could be rubbing on the casting somewhere, keeping the doors from opening.Hope this helps.

Q.jets have a small lever attatched to the
choke mechanism that falls down and hits a
pin on the end of the secondary throttle
blade shaft that stops the secondaries from
opening when the engine is cold.Make sure
that it is clearing that pin.

Check the secondary lockout. Most qjets have it as part of the choke assembly. It's designed to prevent driveability problems from hammering on a cold motor, but generally causes more trouble than it is worth. If the lockout is screwed up, or if the choke isn't opening all the way, the lockout will prevent the secondary air valve from opening (the doors on top of the secondaries).
