flat spot on holley 600 vac.

I have a 350 with 3500 miles on it and a brand new holley 600 vac. secondary carb. The carb is installed out of the box with no modifications yet. The car starts great, idles great, starts warm great, etc. etc...
However, there is an huge flat spot just off idle especially when engine is cold. The squirters work at the slightest turn of the throttle blades. The floats are factory set and fuel is level with the botton of the sight plug. 5 psi pressure, timing at 12 degrees initial, HEI distributor with factory vacuum advance (non-computer motor). What am I missing? Thanks.

One thing that Ive found true about holleys. Factory float set is high very high! You should check that 1st.
Second You might want to kick the idle up and drop the af mix down a bit. That usualy helps rid the flat spot.

Edit: You also might want to check that pump shot to be sure. I know the holley I just put on my truck worked 50/50 with a small rev like in a cold run situation. Barley tap the linkage a few times while the car is off and see if it is working. If it is off and on turn the nut clk wise untile it works correctly.

A just off idle flat spot is the accerator pump. You may need a bigger squirter or pump cam. The 600 holley comes with a 'universal calibration'

------------------
350 with stealth intake, holley carb, 470 lift cam. 700r4 with .5 boost valve, vette servo, tci lock-up kit, B&M megashifter. Richmond 3.73 gears, powertrax locker, timkin bearings, synthetic lube. Custom 3 inch single into 2 2.5 pipes. 1 1/2 drop springs, 1 5/16 solid front sway bar, 1 inch rear bar, custom subframe connectors, custom LCA relocation brackets. Kobel ground FX, currant red metallic paint. Lots of other stuff...
