choke light stays on?
I took my car to get it inspected today. As always I had to put the stock air cleaner, smog belt on it.I get the car back and now the choke light is on.Could they have done something,ya think.Something else is the alternator died on the way home.I have never had a problem with either. The carb. is about 6 months old(reman) and has ru perfect since I got it.The car still runs good and when I unplug the choke the light goes out.The choke seems to be working right,it was hot though so it was full open.I did go back and ask the guy if they messed with anything and of course he said no.Its weird they both happen at the same time, but it is my luck.its a 305 lg4.c/c carb.thanks

Due to a bit of overly elegant engineering on the part of some idiot that doesn't understand the purpose of warning lights (I guess he thought they were for interior decoration or something
) the "Choke" light is also the "Alternator" light! Think about it for a minute.... you've got a choke in one hand, and alternator in the other... why, just look how alike they are! I am like so sure that any consumer would be able to figure out that when the "Choke" light comes on, that means they're supposed to replace the alternator!!!
And I'll bet the idiot in question probably got a raise for coming up with that.
Anyway, fix the alternator, the Choke light will stop coming on.

Yep, the choke can also be a warning for the alternator. Also, on some years, it could also mean the oil pressuse switch is not connected. My 87 T/A does this, or check if you have a fuse blown for the instrument panel.
