What are symptoms of too much fuel psi?

I am running about 7psi at idle witha Carter mech pump on my Holley 750vac. As some of you may well know, my A/F guage reads normal until a few seconds later when it creeps up into the rich range. I haven't checked if it does this when I just start it up and idle only...

I've checked the float level, the needle/seat look OK, and I've cleaned out all the passages multiple times. No adjustments I do seem to make a damn bit of difference on this... Could a surge in fuel psi (perhaps due to a restriction through the 1/8" pipe fittings in the inline fuel filter) bump the psi up so high that it floods the primary bowl?

It is a possibilty, lower your fuel pressure to 6 psi and see how it acts.My Demon ran pig rich at 7 psi, lowered it to 6 psi and it runs great. Are you checking the pressure with a gauge?I ask this cause i had a Carter mechanical pump on my car that was supposed to be a "7 psi" but was more like 9-12 when i finally checked it with a gauge.I have had stock replacement pumps that put out more than 7 psi 99% of the time.I now run electric with my new fuel system.

Flooding/running too rich.
Turn it down and see. I've run as low as 3 psi with no problems whatsoever. Not really a reason to set it higher at this point.

Well, I've checked it with two separate gauges and they both read about 6 1/2-7psi at idle... I don't know what they'd be at when I drive around.
